Ratio Group Studio

profile one ratio across one grouping, then say what it shows

This is the Project 1 move, on its own, with real Compustat data. Pick a ratio, pick a grouping, pick a year. Read the box plots. Then write the one line you would put at the top of the slide. The model read stays hidden until you have written yours, because the writing is the skill and reading someone else's line first is how you skip it.

Built-in AI tutor. Stuck on what the chart is telling you, or on how to word the line? Ask the helper on this page. It will not write the finding for you before you have tried.
What a finding line has to do: name a group, state a direction, carry a number, and round it sensibly. Four things. A title like "Margin Analysis by Sector" does none of them.

The numbers under the chart

The box is the middle 50 percent, from the first quartile to the third. The line inside it is the median. The whiskers reach the furthest value within 1.5 times the IQR. Values past a whisker are counted in the last column, split by which side they fall on, rather than drawn. One extreme firm cannot stretch the chart, and the side the strays sit on tells you which way the shape leans.

Write the finding

One line. What does this chart show?

Nothing here is scored. The checklist is mechanical and the model read is one way to write it, not the only way.
